Devon Still finally got a chance to personally thank New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton this morning for his generous contribution to pediatric cancer research on behalf of Still's 4-year-old daughter Leah, who is currently batting neuroblastoma.

Still, a defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals, coordinated with the team so that the proceeds from the sale of his jersey - which go for $100 on the team's Web site - would directly benefit pediatric cancer research.

As has been reported, Payton heard Still's story on the radio a couple of weeks ago and immediately purchased 100 jerseys in sizes small and medium and gifted them all to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic - hosts of ESPN's "Mike & Mike" radio show - arranged for Still and Payton to each call in this morning to speak to each other publicly about the meaningful gesture.

"I just wanted to thank you for really stepping up to help support this cause," Still told Payton. "I'm pretty sure you know how many families and how many children you're helping out with this. And it's just showing the world how it's not all about how competitive you can be on the field, it's about what you can do to help out humanity. And I really appreciate you doing what you did."

Payton, meanwhile, said Still was the true inspiration in all of this.

"It just really caught my attention the way [the Bengals] were handling it. And I think it will give other people strength, obviously in a difficult time," Payton said. "I'm a huge fan from afar, [though] I've never met you."

Payton, of course, could not resist one quick jab at Still, whose Bengals will play his Saints in Week 11.

"We play you down the road, now," Payton said. "We can't have any sacks on [Drew] Brees."
