After making themselves known on CW's Arrow, then landing an animated crime caper, Batman: Assault on Arkham, Warner Bros. wants to keep the momentum building with another DC Comics movie. The Suicide Squad is eyeing director David Ayer (End of Watch) to bring Task Force X to the big screen.

When the government has a mission too hot for the superheroes to handle, they send in the bad guys to take care of business. In a plot reminiscent of The Dirty Dozen, If the Suicide Squad team - which includes the captured band of super-villains Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and more - survives their deadly mission, their prison sentence will be reduced. In the mythology, the team is run by government agent, Amanda Waller, who has earned the nickname "The Wall" by her associates.

According to Variety, the Training Day screenwriter is in talks to make this dark and edgy action pic. Dan Lin (The Lego Movie) is producing the flick from a script being written up by Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li). Ayer's next film (Fury starring Brad Pitt) will be released in October.

In the comics, Harley Quinn is the ex-lover of the clown prince of crime, The Joker. Though audiences may not see the Dark Knight and his deadliest adversary in the picture, there will be opportunities for other characters to crossover.
