San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been fined $11,000 by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct, following an incident on the field during his team's September 14 loss to the Chicago Bears.

According to the Miami Sun-Sentinel, Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported on Sunday that referee Laird Hays allegedly overheard Kaepernick using the n-word toward Bears defender Lamarr Houston after the Niners QB threw an interception, and Hays immediately responded by tossing a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Kaepernick, however, continues to deny the allegations and says he will appeal the NFL's ruling.

"It will be appealed," Kaepernick told Fox Sports. "I didn't say anything. Lamarr Houston said I didn't say anything. We're going to leave it at that."

Indeed, Houston was interviewed in the locker room at the conclusion of the Week 2 game and was asked about the alleged incident by the Chicago Tribune.

"I didn't hear anything," Houston told the newspaper.

He did, however, admit to leaving Kaepernick with a few stinging words on the field.

"I said, 'Nice pass,'" he added to the Tribune. "Just nice pass."

According to Fox Sports, Kaepernick feels like has a good case for an appeal because of Houston's comments to the media.

"The player that I supposedly said something to has been quoted saying that I didn't say anything, and I don't know him, so it's not like he would have a reason to just randomly stick up for me," Kaepernick said.

Hayes, meanwhile, is defending his call. The side judge maintains that Kaepernick did use the racial slur, telling CSN Bay Area that Colin "knows what he said. It was the right call."

Kaepernick's coach, Jim Harbaugh, says he didn't hear anything with his own ears but tends to side with his star player.

"Colin says he didn't say anything, this person says what they say and somebody else heard something else," Harbaugh told Fox Sports. "I don't have a stance. You can only imagine. I don't have a stance because I don't know, I didn't hear it. Colin's always been truthful 100 percent of the time."
