The Philadelphia Eagles edged the Washington Redskins, 37-34, in the Nation's Capital on Sunday, but not without some on-field drama.

In the fourth quarter, Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles threw what likely would have been an interception, but the play was overruled before it could get that far.

Immediately following the would-be pickoff, Redskins defensive lineman Chris Baker went in for a block that led to an on-field scrum and ultimately got him and an Eagles player ejected.

According to the Washington Post, Baker tackled Foles after the Philly QB attempted to block Redskins cornerback Bashaud Breeland from capitalizing on his turnover. From there is where the testosterone flared and things started heating up.

Baker's hit blindsided Foles, which sent the Eagles bench into a frenzy. Philadelphia tackle Jason Peters reacted by throwing a punch at Baker. Several Redskins players ran onto the field to defend their assaulted teammate, and the Eagles followed suit, as they weren't going to sit back and to allow their guys to get trounced. Multiple flags were thrown, and in the end, Baker and Peters were ejected.

"I was doing what I was taught, and that's to go get a block," Baker told the Post. "I did not look to see if it was the quarterback. All I saw was someone going towards the ball, and I got my head in front and lowered my shoulder, which is a legal football move."

Peters, too, defended his own actions.

"That wasn't scripted or planned," Peters told the Post of his punch. "[Baker] just cheap-shotted Nick Foles, and I reacted."

As far as the refs were concerned, however, both players were in the wrong.

As the Post points out, Rule 12, article 9.7 of the NFL rulebook states, "it is a foul if a player initiates unnecessary contact against a player in a defenseless posture," including "a quarterback at any time after a change of possession."

And as such, we likely haven't seen the end of this episode. According to Fox Sports reporter Mike Pereira, several players should expect to get fined before all is said and done.

"The league will look at this whole instance, whether or not flags were thrown against certain individuals, and will say, 'Are there any fines further to come?'" Pereira said. "And in fact there will be."
