There is still just over a month until the 2014-15 NBA season tips off, but San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker has already made a big claim on behalf of his team.

Parker believes this is the year the Spurs could win a repeat NBA Championship, as he told Yahoo! France in a video interview released on Monday.

"I think it's the right season," Parker said. "I think it's a great challenge for us. For us to repeat would be unbelievable because we've had four tries to do that and we never achieved that. Just that alone - we should be motivated by that."

San Antonio took the league crown last year, knocking off the Miami Heat in five games. It was the team's fifth title in its history; but if the Spurs were to make Parker's prediction a reality and win it for the second-straight year this coming season, it would be just their first set of back-to-back championships.

"I know Coach Pop [Gregg Popovich] - he is going to be on us from Day 1 at training camp to make sure that everybody is ready," Parker said. "Everybody took the summer off, so everybody is going to be fresh: myself, Manu [Ginobili], Timmy [Tim Duncan], Kawhi [Leonard]. Nobody played with their national teams, so hopefully we can stay healthy. If we're healthy, I like our chances."

Paker also took a moment to talk about Duncan, the team's veteran star forward. When asked if he thinks is the year The Big Fundamental finally hangs up his sneakers, Parker said he wasn't so sure.

"I don't know. It's hard to say," Parker said. "[Tim] loves basketball. I thought maybe he would retire this year. He's 38, had an unbelievable season. [I thought maybe he would] leave on a championship. But he was like, 'No I want to come back, try to repeat. He's always motivated. He's won five championships and he still wants to win. Hard to say if he will retire now. "
