iPhone 6 Sets HUGE Weekend Record- Apple's New Phone Sells More Than 10 Million Units In First Weekend Out

You know what they say, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Well many customers took that saying pretty seriously as the headed out to the Apple store over the weekend to pick up the newest model of the iPhone. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were released over the weekend and sales for the two models surpassed over 10 million unites sold during the three-day period.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple also said that during the first day of release that the phone had already sold 4 million copies, a pretty record breaking feat.

The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, expressed his happiness over the record-breaking sales in a statement earlier today.

"Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus- exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn't be happier," Cook revealed. "We would like to thank all of our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previously sell-through records by a large margin. While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhone with greater supply, and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible."

The phone, which was released earlier last week in the United States, is also available in countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, and the U.K. The models will also head to 20 more countries by the end of this week before becoming available to in 115 other countries by the end of 2014.
