'BET Hip Hop Awards': 'I Am Hip Hop Icon' Doug E. Fresh's Emotional Speech, Common Joins Michael Brown's Parents In A Tribute, Brandy, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Yo-Yo Take Us Back! Show Airs Oct. 14!!

Once again, BET brought another successful show to the city of Atlanta. With a weekend full of events the city hosted some of your favorite hip hop artist in the dirty south.

Hosted by Uncle Snoop at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center; the BET Hip Hop Awards 2014, celebrated the biggest names in the world of hip hop with nine performances, five cyphers, which included, for the first time ever, a live cypher performance on stage.

Common, Jay Electronica, Vince Staples and the parents of Michael Brown gave a moving tribute to the fallen teen, shot down by a police officer earlier this year.

The Brown taping during the show included their "Kingdom" performance in a moving "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" tribute.

Legendary rapper, Doug E Fresh shed tears as he accepted the I Am Hip Hop Icon Award. As a photo of his late mother was seen behind him on a large screen on stage, the emotional "Human Beat Box" star reflected and remembered his mother, who passed away five months ago from Alzheimer's disease.

"I have to acknowledge her," Fresh said.  "I want to thank this woman and hip-hop. If it wasn't for hip-hop, I don't know where I would be."

Stephen G. Hill, BET's President of Music Programming and Specials, Lynne Harris Taylor, BET's Vice President of Specials, served as Executive Producers for the BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 along with Jesse Collins, CEO of Jesse Collins Entertainment.

French Montana and Uncle Snoop share a laugh on the GGN (Double G News Network).

Brandy, MC Lyte, Yo-Yo and Queen Latifah made a surprise performance celebrating the 20^th anniversary of their "I Wanna Be Down" collaboration.

BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 will premiere on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 8 p.m. ET and also on Friday, October 17, 2014 on BET's international network in the UK and Africa, reaching more than 17 million households in 50+ countries (check local listings).
