'Boardwalk Empire' Season 5 Spoilers: Will Kelly Macdonald's Margaret Thompson Cause "Embarrassment" To Nucky Thompson?

As the period/gangster drama, Boardwalk Empire, returns to HBO for season 5, the countdown to the series finale has already begun. In the last episodes, what will Margaret Thompson (Kelly Macdonald) do that will cause "embarrassment" to Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi)?

In our recap of the fifth season premiere, Margaret witnesses the shocking suicide of her Wall Street boss. The reason the stockbroker shot himself in the head is because an internal investigation is going on. Margaret discovers her boss was keeping secrets inside a locked file cabinet, which she had the key to. 

In our recent recap, things got worse for poor Margaret, as she was being interrogated by her no-nonsense superiors. Arnold Rothstein's widowed wife wants to make her life a living hell. Everyone will know soon enough she is married to a monster.

Unfortunately, because she's been pushed to a corner, Margaret has to return to the man she both loves and despises at the same time.

In an interview with Press And Journal, Macdonald makes a prediction about what should happen with her character, "Part of me wants Margaret to end badly. Not for any moral reason, just because I thought that would be fun to play. I used to joke that I hoped she'd become this deranged alcoholic, causing embarrassment to Nucky."

In the past four season, audiences have watched Margaret start out as a a mousy and quiet abused woman. Then, she became a fighter and a rival against Nucky's nefarious deeds.

The Trainspotting actress continues, "Margaret's evolved every season. She's the character you've seen the biggest change in from beginning to end. " 

Will her journey take an embarrassing turn though?
