Well, that didn't last long. Three weeks into the 2014 NFL season, and James Harrison is a Steeler once again.

Sustaining injuries to two of its top defensive players, Pittsburgh proved it couldn't stand to be without Harrison, and it seems, Harrison wasn't quite ready to be without the Steelers either.

Just this past Saturday, Harrison had tweeted, "Retirement is good!"

But that break was short-lived.

Yesterday, Harrison returned to the social media site to declare, "I'll give it one more year!" much to the delight of Steelers Nation.

Finally, today, he tweeted one more time to let his fans and followers know that his return to the NFL is a "done deal," sharing a photo of himself signing a brand new contract with the Steelers.

Prior to his retirement, Harrison was an outside linebacker for the Steelers from 2002 until 2012, before signing with the Cincinnati Bengals for a year last season when he and his long-time team failed to come to an agreement on the terms of his contract renewal.

The one-time defensive player of the year (2008) had - by his standards - a subpar season (16 tackles, 14 assists, 2.0 sacks) in Ohio last year and decided to hang up his pads at the conclusion of the season.

But when Jarvis Jones injured his wrist and declared he would miss at least eight games, and Ryan Shazier sprained his MCL, the Steelers knew they had to make a move and called in Harrison to add some depth to their thinned-out corps of linebackers.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger admitted on his radio show on Tuesday morning that he thinks the move is a great one.

"I just think it's going to be great for that defense," Roethlisberger said, according to ESPN. "I know he's still got it in the tank because I know how hard James works. I'm excited to have him back."
