UFC fighters Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier appeared before the Nevada State Athletic Commission earlier today to discuss the ramifications of their Aug. 4 skirmish when the two came to blows during a media day event for the professional MMA organization.

The hearing was televised live in its entirety on UFC Fight Pass.

Jones, the defending UFC lightweight champion, was up first. According to Bleacher Report, he took full responsibility for the fight and asked the panel to go easy on him because he had already lost his contract with Nike as a result of the brawl.

Offir Ventura, Jones' lawyer, later revealed that the contract was for "six figures."

"It's pretty damaging if you really consider it," Ventura told MMA Junkie.

In the end, Jones was ordered to 40 hours of community service and was stuck with a $50,000 fine - equal to 10 percent of the total pot he's expected to make when he and Cormier compete against each other on Jan. 3 at UFC 182.

"40 hours of community service in Vegas with a fight coming up is the only thing that really concerns me," Jones tweeted after the hearing. "The fact that this needs to be completed before the fight is definitely going to have effect on my camp. I respect the commission though."

Next up was Cormier, who also placed the bulk of the blame on Jones, telling the panel that his foe threw the first punch and set off the brawl.

Cormier was fined $9,000 - again, 10 percent of what he's expected to make when he takes on Jones in January - and 20 hours of community service.

"I believe that it was fair," Cormier told MMA Junkie of his punishment. "I apologize for my part in the actions. It is not who I am. I think a lot of people knew me before the event, and the lights are just a little bit brighter, and I need to carry myself in the way that I have for 20 competitive years."
