The pop rock boy band One Direction has been blowing up the summer airwaves with such hits including "What Makes you Beautiful" and "One Thing." The band's loyal fan base has become explosive, almost to the point where vocalist Louis Tomlinson might not be able to hear their adoring screams so well soon.

Tomlinson, 20, recently told the UK paper The Mirror that he is experiencing hearing loss after being exposed to the prolonged loud screaming of One Direction's enamored fans.

After a recent stretch of performances in Liverpool, Tomlinson admits to suffering three days of nonstop headaches as a result of the constant banter.

Tomlinson claims that, "All our fans are always very loud, especially Scousers" (a slang term used to describe residents of Liverpool).

"I am going slightly deaf in my right ear," Tomlinson continued. "It's tinnitus. Something like that."

Tomlinson may be experiencing what is medically described as "an occasional ringing (or roaring, hissing, buzzing, or tinkling) in the ear. The sound usually lasts only a few minutes." But such ringing in the ears that does not get better or go away is called tinnitus. Although Tomlinson has yet to be officially diagnosed, if left untreated, tinnitus may indeed lead to deafness or similar side effects.

A similar thing happened to a former popular British rock band, the Beatles. Audiences became so loud and rowdy, especially in and around the Liverpool area, that the Beatles stopped touring in 1966.

Hopefully the same doesn't happen for One Direction, or else fans will be loud for a totally different reason.
