A dance made infamous by the dueling gangs the Crips and the Bloods spilled over into the entertainment industry after West Coast rappers took the fancy footwork and renamed it the Crip Walk. Now, looks likes the moves are making a name for themselves in the sports world.

Team U.S.A. tennis star Serena Williams celebrated her Olympic gold win over rival Maria Sharapova on Saturday by busting out the Crip Walk in what was meant to be a brief moment of celebration. But now what was just William's private moment of glory is hitting the web in waves of controversy. Take, for example, some reports taken from blog posts on FoxSports.com:

"And there was Serena - the tennis legend, the winner of 14 individual Grand Slams, the best player of her generation, the American girl being crowned at the All-England Club as the queen of tennis - Crip-Walking all over the most lily-white place in the world."

"What Serena did was akin to cracking a tasteless, X-rated joke inside a church. It wasn't quite as bad but it was in the same ballpark of the idiot sportswriter who decided to channel Andrew Dice Clay on Twitter the night Jeremy Lin channeled Allen Iverson."

"You couldn't help but shake your head. It was as if Serena just couldn't seem to avoid dipping into waters of controversy even as she'd ascended to the top of her sport."

Take a look at the video and see for yourself. Can Williams' dance really be labeled as racist and offensive, as some critics are saying? Or was she just caught up in the moment, celebrating a dance with her sister Venus (sitting in the stands) which originated in her hometown of Compton, CA?

Either way, Williams became only the second woman to complete a Golden Slam, meaning she was able to win all four Grand Slam tournaments and the Olympic gold medal during her career, so she still has ample reason to celebrate.
