Ga. Woman Gets Shot In The Head By Abusive Baby's Father; Mother Called A Hero For Saving Her Baby By Hiding Her Daughter In A Toilet

A Smyrna, Ga. mother is being declared a hero after she was shot in the head, laid dying and decided to save her baby girl by placing her inside of a toilet bowl, then covering her with her body, according to her family.

NY Daily News revealed that Jessica Arrendale, 33, saved her 6-month-old daughter's life after being shot in the head, by the child's abusive father. 

The mother of the deceased hero, Teresa Lonniello said that Arrendale was under attack by her drunken, abusive baby's father, during an interview with WSB Radio last week.

Lonniello revealed that a fight broke out after the two had returned home from dinner, resulting in Antoine Davis, 30, to become belligerent, and out of control. Arrendale was holding her daughter as she tried to defend herself with a baseball bat, but Davis snatched the bat away and started beating the mother of two with it, according to Lonniello.

Trying to get away from Davis, Jessica than ran into a bathroom and locked the door. Davis, a former Marine, and Iraq War veteran beat the door down and opened fire with an assault rifle, shooting Jessica once in the head.

Arrendale shielded her 6-month-old from the bullets, by sliding the baby into the toilet and laying on top of it before dying from her gunshot womb. Davis eventually shot and killed himself, as police swarmed the house.

"He shot her and they (police) don't know how she was able to twist her body and fall literally in the opposite direction," the mother of Jessica said. Instead of falling on the bathroom floor, Lonniello revealed that her daughter fell over the toilet, dropping little Cobie into the bowl.

Cobie suffered a traumatic head injury, but managed to survive for 13 hours until authorities found her. The baby is currently being treated at an Atlanta hospital where her injuries are believed to have been suffered from Davis's swinging of the bat.

Baby Cobie is alive today because her mother shielded her from bullets as well as keeping her away from her father's sight.   Arrendale not only leaves behind little Cobie, she leaves behind a 15-year-old daughter, Naomi Turner, who lives with Arrendale's mother.

Jessica's mother says that she is very proud of her heroic slain daughter.

"She was the hero," Lonniello shared, "because her last breath was saving the child."
