Miley Cyrus Talks Wedding, Why She's Ok to Wait

In an interview with Marie Clarie for its September issue (out August 14), Cyrus explains why her wedding plans with actor Liam Hemsworth are at a standstill and how they would rather have a long engagement:

"I don't really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we've made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement," Cyrus said.

Hemsworth sprang the proposal on the pop singer the day before she went in for the Marie Claire cover shoot in May, and she said it came as a total surprise. Her parents didn't even know of Hemsworth's plans.

As for the ring:

"I had no input. We'd been kind of talking about getting engaged ... I saw it online at one point and thought it was really pretty ... I just love that it's old and has a story. And I'm happy because it doesn't look like anything else I wear."

The engagement ring is a vintage 3.5 carat Neil Lane.

And how does her relationship with the "Hunger Games" hunk work so well?

"Neither of us is super-jealous. We know each other and would never do anything to hurt each other."

Cyrus, 19, summed up her feelings with, "'Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with."

Some brides like to slim down before the big day arrives, but this might be just a bit too much, especially considering Cyrus does not expect to walk down the aisle any time soon.
