Every boxer grows up wanting to become a world champion, and tomorrow night Paul Smith has the opportunity to do just that, but veteran boxer Arthur Abrahams stands in his way. Despite his long career, only Andre Dirrell, Carl Froch, Andre Ward and Robert Stieglitz have got the win against Abrahams. Smith, despite being the huge underdog, is not only desperate for the win, but confident he can deliver it.

The challenger will fight the champion in Germany, but he believes he can beat the fighter, who has home advantage. He explained "I'm ready, 100%. As ready as I'll ever be. Everything's gone great in camp. I've put everything in that's been asked from me and more. Preparations have been going great. Everything is spot on now in fight week. We're tapering down and trying to get the energy levels back, doing all the media commitments, press conference, public workout etc and getting ready for the weigh-in."

He is under no false pretences, and he knows it will be tough. He continued " I am the underdog and this is my first world title fight. Arthur Abrahams has had 18 or 19 world title fights so it's a massive chance for me and that's exactly how I want it. You don't get given world titles. It's going to be the hardest fight of my life but I'm prepared for that. It hasn't been hostile over here. I went for a walk around the town centre. Three different people stopped me and wished me luck and they were Germans. It's not really hostile. All the English fans will arrive soon and I'm very lucky. I'm grateful and I'm sure they'll make some noise Saturday night.

This might just be another championship defense for Arthur, but for Smith, it's the moment he's been dreaming about since he could throw a punch, and he believes it's his time.
