‘Revenge’ Star Emily VanCamp Would Have Been Happy With Only Three Seasons Of The ABC Show

ABC's hit drama Revenge returns this Sunday and when we get back to the Hamptons, the tables will have turned on the queen of revenge, Emily Thorne. Season four will bring a slew of problems for Emily (played by Emily VanCamp), including the return of her father David Clarke, who viewers all thought was dead. With season four's return quickly approaching, Revenge's leading lady explains why she thought season three could have been the series' end.

"Last season's finale was one of my favorite episodes to date, and to me, that would have been an amazing series finale," VanCamp told TV Guide. "Because that's what it was all about for Emily: She accomplished what she set out to do. So this season has been very tricky to approach. Where is she at now?"

The season three finale was definitely a doozy, but it ended up with Emily on top. This season, that's all about to change — and not for the better. The biggest season three shocker was discovering that David Clarke was alive. Even VanCamp was surprised when the executive producer told her about the new storyline direction.

"It will be interesting to see how the fans react [to the storyline]. Even though it could seem like Emily's revenge plan was all for nothing, Conrad and Victoria still ruined this woman's life. It's almost even more of an injustice that her father was alive the whole time," the 28-year-old explained.

Season four will pick up six months after the season three finale left off. This time however, Emily's first love Jack won't be a bartender anymore. "Jack will go from being arrested to the one holding the 'cuffs-as he dons policeman duds!" TV Line reported.

Speaking of Jack, Emily revealed in her TV Guide interview that her ideal ending to the hit series revolves around her character's first and only real love. "Of course, she and Jack realize they truly are soul mates. It has to happen. The ultimate salvation for her is to find love."
