With Marvel's Daredevil already in production, viewers are anxiously waiting for the superhero series to make its premiere on Netflix. Before we see Charlie Cox don the red costume as the titular Marvel Comics superhero on the small screen, we have to ask, how will this version of the blind lawyer, Matt Murdock, be different than Ben Affleck's take?

Viewers first met the man without fear in the 1989 made-for-TV special, The Trial of the Incredible Hulk starring Bill Bixby. This vigilante wore a black ninja-inspired costume for television audiences. Then the Marvel superhero made his way onto the big screen in the mixed-reviewed 2003 Daredevil movie, starring the Oscar-winning Argo actor/director.

Marvel's Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, spoke in a radio interview at Los Angels' KFI AM 640. The Heroes executive producer shared some insights about how this Daredevil will be different from the cinematic version.

Transcribed by Screenrant, Loeb states, "When we started talking to our actors and to our directors, this is with all due respect to the film, if you want to know what we're not doing, go watch the movie. If you want to know what we're doing, it's very much steeped in the world of the comics, but it also has a life of its own and that's really what television and our films really do is that we take the best."

Viewers should not be expecting a rehash of the movie. As reported here, Deborah Ann Woll (from True Blood) will play Karen Page, who appears in the comics, not in the movie. In the photos released, the shots feature more of Cox as the lawyer, as if the series was more of a courtroom drama. We also mentioned Vincent D'Onofrio will be scarier than Michael Clarke Duncan as the antagonist, Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin.

The Batman: Hush writer adds, "We hope and we're very confident that this is the beginning of something that's very exciting on Netflix."

Marvel's Daredevil will premiere on Netflix in May 2015. Readers, are you excited to see Charlie Cox in the red costume?
