Dez Bryant caused quite the commotion over the weekend when he showed up at a high school homecoming dance in Texas.

According to TMZ, the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver pulled up to the Gaylord Hotel in Grapevine, Texas, in his black Bentley just as a group of students from Southlake Carroll High School was getting ready to call it a night.

A youngster named Kevin told TMZ that once they realized it was Bryant, they started "throwing up the X," referencing the Pro Bowler's patented touchdown celebration.

"We all freaked out and asked for a picture," Kevin said. "He was an awesome guy ... and extremely nice to us."

Kevin (@KevinCramer5) made mention of the run-in on his Twitter page, posting "Shoutout to @DezBryant for making our Homecoming!! #ThrowuptheX," along with the same photo he shared with TMZ. The tweet has been favorited 249 times and re-tweeted 60 times since it was posted on Saturday.

"I can't believe this man," Twitter user @CodyWody925 said. "Southlake was the enemy when Dez was in high school #LufkinTx."

Bryant hails from Galveston, Texas, and attended Lufkin High School, located about 200 miles southwest of Southlake.

The wide receiver currently leads the Cowboys in receptions (23) and receiving yards (291) despite nursing a shoulder injury.

"My shoulder feels good," Bryant said told ESPN on Thursday. "It feels 10 times better than it felt last week."

He put his money where his mouth - or shoulder? - is on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, nabbing an 18-yard pass from Tony Romo in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Cowboys.
