Rush Hour 4 might not happen, but franchise filmmaker Brett Ratner is ready to bring his hit buddy cop comedy to the small screen in the form of a new TV series! Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker will not be reprising their roles for the TV show, but we know that Cougar Town co-creator Bill Lawrence is writing and executive producing with Blake McCormick, so it is sure to be funny!

While we're definitely going to hold out until Chan and Tucker come back for a film, the TV series is a marvelous idea. It might be hard to recreate the dynamic of the two comedic actors, but the fish-out-of-water meets odd-couple aspect of the films is sure to be recreated well on TV.

According to Deadline, this show "is expected to stay close to the premise of the original movie, with a stoic, by-the-book Hong Kong police officer ... assigned to a case in Los Angeles, where he's forced to work with a cocky black LAPD officer ... who has no interest in a partner."

This news comes soon after it was revealed that Minority Report would get a TV series adaptation, which came after a successful first season of Fargo (adapted from a film as well). Are we looking at a new trend in TV?
