'Twilight' Saga's Bella Swan & Edward Cullen To Live On In New Short Films? Series To Premiere On Facebook

In news that we know that all of you Twi-hards have been waiting for, it has been announced that the movie franchise will be getting back into the film making business, as Stephanie Meyer and Facebook are teaming up to create short films based in the world of Twilight. The world of vampires will be continuing past the films, as the YA author and the social media site have teamed up exclusively to debut the new shorts through their site.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, these new Twilight shorts will be part of the Facebook iniciative "The Storytellers- New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga."

The new initiative will serve as a "multiphase contest," that will be mentored by a group of panelists including Twilight cast and crew Stephanie Meyer and Kristen Stewart along with other stars Julie Bowen, Catherine Hardwicke, Octavia Spencer, Kate Winslet and more.

Fans on Facebook will then help decide which five videos will advance and compete for a cash price.

"More people than ever before are creating, discovering and engaging with videos on Facebook," Dan Rose Facebook's VP of Partnerships explained in a statement. "This collaboration with Stephanie Meyer, Lionsgate and Women In Film is a great opportunity to engage Twilight's massive global audience on Facebook through an innovative premium video program."

Lionsgate Vice chairman Michael Burns, spoke to The New York Times about the project. "We think Facebook is a great way for us to introduce the world of "Twilight' to a whole new audience while re-energizing existing fans."
