As fans may know by now, X-Men: Apocalypse would recast some of the original members of the X-Men movies should they appear in the sequel to Days of Future Past. To that end, James Marsden, who played Cyclops in the first three movies, offered an opinion on who should play the younger version of his character.

Marsden suggested Luke Bracey, who plays the younger version of Marsden's character in the upcoming Point Break remake, to take over as Cyclops. "Yeah, that'd be great," he told Yahoo! Movies. "Then he could just eventually take over being me. Then I would never get another role as long as I live!" he joked.

Marsden appeared in a cameo at the end of Days of Future Past, so he's not completely sure that he's done in the X-Men movie universe. "Who knows what's happening? It's all just speculation at this point," he said. "If [recasting] does happen, it was because of a timeline issue. I know so little about that whole world. Most of the time, the actors are the last to know."

Writer Simon Kinberg, who wrote both of the aforementioned X-Men films, recently confirmed in a Q&A session on Yahoo! that any original characters would be recast for Apocalypse.

"If we included some of the original X-Men like Storm and Jean and Scott and other in Apocalypse, yeah we'd have to recast them, as Apocalypse takes place a good twenty years before [the first] X-Men, which was now, insanely, a good ten to fifteen years ago.

"It would be really hard to do. Halle, Famke (Janssen) and Jimmy and others have done such wonderful jobs of bringing those parts to life, and are so identified with those parts now. So it would be a tall task. But I also would have said before First Class that there would be no actors who can stand alongside Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart."
