Last week, Matthew McConaughey was invited to attend a University of Texas football practice by head coach Charlie Strong. The Wolf of Wall Street actor's appearance — movie chant as well as pep talk — was documented by the Longhorn Network for an episode of "All-Access with Matthew McConaughey," which was released Wednesday, Oct. 1.

The actor, one of UT's most notable alumni, showed up to give the Longhorns a motivational speech ahead of their game against the Kansas Jayhawks — and it worked. The Longhorns trounced the Jayhawks, 23-0.

McConaughey's secret to pumping up the team?

His infamous Wolf of Wall Street chant, of course.

In the video shared by TMZ, McConaughey — who brought along his son Levi, 6 — got the team involved, all beating their chests along to the hummed chant.

Before that, though, he also had some words of wisdom for the team.

"Last night I was thinking about what I do. And I was thinking about what y'all do," McConaughey said. "And I was asking myself this question all the time, 'Why do I do what I do? Why am I an actor?' ... And I was gonna ask y'all, 'Why do you play football?'

"And again, no right answer. Ask yourself when you look in the mirror tonight. Just say, 'Why do I play this game? Why am I doing this? Why do I come out in practice? Why am I out here busting my ass in the middle of the heat every day?'"

He let his words sink in with the players before continuing.

"I found that when I've done my best work as an actor, it was only when I pushed myself to be better than even I thought I could be," he said. "And I've got a pretty high idea of how good I could be. I'm pretty self-confident of how good I can be. But I didn't do my best work — and I still don't think I've done my best work — until I've pushed myself further than even I think I could be. It's amazing how easy the mind can go up and down.

"So I guess what I'm saying is, again, ask yourself, why are you playing the game? And in there you're going to find the answer of why you play it, whether you win or whether you lose."
