Carmelo Anthony has yet to win an NBA championship, and last season he failed to make the playoffs with the New York Knicks. It seems that's holding him back, at least in his mind anyway. The star has been one of the best in the game for years, yet he is often forgotten about, with Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and LeBron James receiving far more praise than he does. He is a seven-time All-Star, and he is often a top scorer in the league, yet he doesn't feel like he's respected enough and he's hit out at everyone in the process of explaining why.

"I think I'm the most underrated superstar that's out there (laughs) but that doesn't matter to me. I know what I'm capable of doing. I know the grind and the hard work I put in to this," Carmelo insisted, "I know how consistent I've been over my career. To do it day in and day out and night in and night out on a very consistent basis year in year out, I know what I can do and I know the work I've put in."

Anthony is always ready to rebound, looking to win, and offers many of the same attributes that his rivals have, but it seems like the lack of an NBA title is well and truly holding him back. However, during the summer he was a top free agent, and he was targeted by several NBA teams, perhaps proving he's valued more than he thinks.

If he he still doesn't feel the respect and value are there, perhaps he should re-read that five-year, $124 million contract he signed a matter of weeks ago. Has he got a right to complain, and does he need an NBA title soon?
