Lady Gaga Tweets Vogue Anniversary Cover [PHOTO]

Lady Gaga and Women's Wear Daily confirmed back in June that the "You and I" star had landed her second cover shoot with the high fashion magazine Vogue. Late Wednesday night, the photo of Gaga flanked in a funky, hip-hugging purple dress which will grace the cover of Vogue's September issue was released, along with an editorial shot and links to a sneak peak of the Gaga interview and cover story on Vogue.com.

Wednesday night into Thursday morning Lady Gaga hit up Twitter talking about the soon-to-be released cover photo shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. In one twitter post after Gaga posted the image on her Twitter page and fan site (littemonsters.com), she wrote:

@ladygaga: "Who else sees me channeling @RuPaul on the COVER of VOGUE. If only I was as fierce as you bitch. I did try to come for you with that weave."

Indeed, the Mother Monster's electrifyingly large blonde do' is one of the first things the eyes are drawn to when looking at the picture, that along with her asymmetrical metallic-magenta gown. The Marc Jacobs mermaid-esque dress fits Gaga's frame perfectly, and the style fits right along with her own funky and unique spirit.

The September Vogue issue hits stands August 14 and is the magazine's 120^th anniversary issue. Inside will feature a full Lady Gaga fashion spread photographed by Alas and Piggott (more will be posted online soon). According to the sneak peak of the full cover story, Jonathan Van Meter's profile reveals a Lady Gaga "who manages to be both utterly out of this world and yet, strangely, simultaneously down-to-earth."

Lady Gaga is quoted as saying, "I don't really make records for people to listen to and go, 'Wow, she's a genius.' I'd really like you to order a drink, maybe kiss the person you came with that evening, or rediscover something about your past that makes you feel even more brave."
