As MStars News reported yesterday, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice was sentenced to 15 months in prison while husband Joe Giudice got 41 months. We can now tell you why Teresa got prison time and not probation.

For months Teresa has been waiting to be sentenced ever since she and her husband pled guilty to charges of mail and wire fraud. It was believed the judge would go lenient on Teresa by giving her probation, while husband Joe serves time.

But the judge shocked everyone by not letting Teresa off easy.

"I will say on the outset, I'm going to focus on what I didn't say to your husband that all of the false declarations, wire fraud and bank fraud is still your fault," Judge Esther Salas told Teresa in her closing statement, Us Weekly reports. "For a moment, I thought about probation until I read the government's report."

It was that report and the fact that Teresa didn't disclose many of her assets that the judge was most upset about.

"What you did in the financial disclosure really sticks in my craw," she said. "It's what the court has a problem with. It shows blatant disrespect for the court."

The reality star apparently didn't include a few cars she owned, a cement mixer, a Bobcat trailer and other items around her house. The judge even made it a point to emphasize how tough it was to get all of the Giudices' financial records.

"Getting this financial information that I need to judge this case was like pulling teeth. It was the most difficult in all my years as a judge and as a lawyer," the judge said.
