Michael Phelps revealed that he is going to rehab just days after being arrested for the second time for a DUI.

The Olympian took to Facebook Sunday morning and wrote to his fans, “The past few days have been extremely difficult. I recognize that this is not my first lapse in judgment, and I am extremely disappointed with myself. I’m going to take some time away to attend a program that will provide the help I need to better understand myself.”

Phelps continued, adding that swimming was a major part of his life, but now he must focus on getting better. "Swimming is a major part of my life, but right now I need to focus my attention on me as an individual, and do the necessary work to learn from this experience and make better decisions in the future."

After Phelps wrote the letter on Facebook, fans reacted giving the swimmer positive feedback.

Teresa Lee Kuebbing Brush Everybody makes mistakes and you had to grow up fast due to competition swimming... Keep your head.. You'll be fine.

Karen Cornwell Fortlander "Blessings on your journey. For those who judge....chill out."

Joanne Conradi You made a mistake in judgement. Unfortunately you repeated a mistake you've made before. And it's a serious mistake that many people make or have made in the past, including those who are hating on you right now. Don't beat yourself up over it. Learn from it and be thankful above all else that you didn't hurt yourself or others. Move on.

Randi Lee Hang in there Michael! Nobody's perfect and we hopefully all learn from our mistakes. You are still a great role model and this is proof getting the understanding you need.

MStars News previously reported that Phelps apologized to everyone he felt that he let down after being arrested on Sept. 30.

Phelps wrote via Facebook, "Earlier this morning, I was arrested and charged with DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines. I understand the severity of my actions and take full responsibility. I know these words may not mean much right now but I'm deeply sorry to everyone I have let down."

Phelps, 29 was arrested for the first time with a DUI in 2004.
