"Red" Singer Taylor Swift is gearing up for the release of her newest album, 1989, but first she will be making a guest appearance on The Voice. She won't be another musical performer – although that would be great – this season Taylor will add mentor and TV advisor to her resume.

Swift was officially announced as one of season seven's mentors on Friday. The network confirmed the news saying that Taylor would be a "key advisor" during the upcoming knock out rounds. The musician "counseled contestants on all of the coaches' teams on 'vocal technique, stage presence and the importance of tailing songs to fit their personalities and strengths,'" the press release read via Entertainment Weekly.

Last season Coldplay's Chris Martin was the mentor for all of the singers, but this year the honor has been given to the country pop star. Other mentors this season include, Little Big Town, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys and Gavin Rossdale. All the mentors will team up with this year's panel of coaches including Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani.

Carson Daly, who is the host of The Voice, announced the news as well on the Today show on Friday. "Seven-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift is going to act as the sole mentor for all of our teams during the knock-out round. We are happy to have her," he said.

The "Shake It Off" singer's new album (her fifth album) titled 1989 will drop on October 27, which is the same day her first appearance on The Voice is set to air. She will also be on the Oct. 28 and Nov. 3 episodes of the Knockout Rounds.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC at 8 p.m. This week is the last week of blind auditions before moving into the battle rounds.
