With an incredible lineup of successful television shows under his belt, including American Horror Story, Glee and Nip/Tuck, it's pretty safe to say writer-producer Ryan Murphy knows a thing or two about creating gripping television, which is exactly why FX has ordered a new anthology series from him titled American Crime Story. To kick it off, he's tackling the O.J. Simpson case!

Deadline reports that the miniseries will act much like AHS, in that each season will be different. However, in this series, American Crime Story will focus on famous cases throughout this past several decades, with the first 10-episode season being titled The People v. O.J. Simpson.

Part One will be based on author Jeffrey Toobin's book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

The O.J. Simpson-inspired season will detail the trial from the perspective of the various lawyers and its "chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court," as the Hollywood Reporter notes.

FX Networks CEO John Landgraf said of the announcement, "Time and time again, Ryan Murphy has transformed the medium of television by redefining genres and formats as he did with Nip/Tuck, Glee and the American Horror Story franchise, and we expect the same of American Crime Story."

Murphy released a statement on the new gig, saying, "This is an exciting project for me, as I've been looking for the right property which could serve as an extension of American Horror Story brand I love to much. The O.J. case was as tragic as it was fascinating –– it seemed like everyone had a stake in the outcome. It was really the beginning of the modern tabloid age."

News of American Crime Story came just before the premiere of AHS: Freak Show, which airs tonight, Oct. 8, on FX.
