Boston Strong, the movie about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, has found its leading man in native star Casey Affleck. Based on the book of the same name by Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge, this script comes from The Fighter scribes Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy. Basically, this project has the right people behind it and is sure to make Boston proud while showcasing how the town came together in tragedy.

The project itself has been in development of an adaptation for quite some time, with screenwriters Tamasy and Johnson figuring out if the book would be better adapted to the big or small screen. EOne Television had come into the works to develop a miniseries, but as you can see, that fell apart. Now with Affleck leading and serving as producer on the project, it is sure to make it onto the big screen.

We previously covered the announcement of the book adaptation last year when the writers were offered deals before even writing a single word of the book! Here is an excerpt:

The manhunt of the surviving suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was all over television up until his April 19thcapture, so whether the movie will go into this portion of the story is unknown. As of now, it looks like the film might be a character piece on the whole city with the possibility of focusing on a few key characters.

The movie will in fact focus on the city and not the manhunt.
