In a crossover event made for the history books, Marvel Comics builds up the confrontation between Earth's Mightiest Avenging Archer against the deadliest Merc With A Mouth. Writer Gerry Duggan (Batman: Arkham Manor) and artist Matteo Lolli (Deadpool Killustrated) are pitting these two popular fan-favorites against each other in the ultimate showdown in Hawkeye Vs. Deadpool #1.

In the Marvel Universe, Hawkeye, also known as Clint Varton, started out as a reluctant villain who eventually joins superhero team the Avengers. Deadpool, aka Wade Wison, doesn't care which side, good or bad, he is on. For the right price, the foul-mouthed anti-hero will  practically shoot just about anyone in the head.

As we mentioned before, in Issue #0, a very important thumb drive goes suddenly missing. Inside the top-secret drive, there are classified details on the personal family lives of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. In the wrong hands, this could very well spell disaster for the protective enforcement agency.

Now Marvel has given us a first look at the first installment. We see the two fighters lying on the floor, having just trashed an apartment room. Notice in the tongue-in-cheek cover, Deadpool is showing off how much bigger his gun is compared to Hawkeye's.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Duggan discusses what makes this unlikely team-up so interested to readers, "We're all hanging out there. There are running jokes, surprise visitors, and because it's Deadpool and Hawkeye — corpses, brainwashed drones, a Macguffin, and hopefully lots of fun and action. You can do that kind of stuff as long as you remember to ground it. There are very real stakes for the Marvel Universe."

Hawkeye vs. Deadpool #1 is expected to hit stores on October 8. Readers, are you excited these two Marvel characters try to one-up each other?
