Selena Gomez recently revealed to Us Weekly that she is not handed every movie role, she works hard for it and she ultimately wants to earn it herself.

The "Come & Get It" singer likes to surround herself with others that are smarter then her, this gives her an advantage in life, helping her become a smarter more well rounded person. "One of my best friends always told me, 'If you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room,'" she told the magazine.

The former Wizards of Waverly Place star left her Hollywood Records studio and signed the big contract with Interscope Records. This will ultimately form the next phase of her career within music and film. However, she doesn't let this big foot-in-the-door stop her form being a go getter.

"Honestly, the reason why I take certain parts is not because I feel like I could just accept it," Gomez said. "I want to be the person who earns it. I've auditioned for every movie I've been a part of, and I've wanted to genuinely feel like I earned it."

It seems as thought this former Disney star has a good head on her shoulders, now she just needs to rub off on Beiber!

Gomez gushes about her Rudderless costars; William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman and Billy Crudup.

"I would rather be in a smaller part and learn from people like Bill, Felicity and Billy...That makes me a better actress. Even though I feel like it can be uncomfortable sometimes, that's honestly what's going to make me grow."

Gomez also tells the magazine that she can "escape from the madness" when she is acting. We assume she means her paparazzi infested life and the pressure of her picture being plastered in the tabloids every week. However with her lifestyle she still is in the job of begging. "Lately, I've been begging people to just take an audition with me," she told Entertainment Tonight.
