Rap and hip-hop mogul Pharrell Williams helped pop sensation Miley Cyrus to release her wild and emotional side on her newest tracks, the "Hannah Montana" star admits in a recent interview with Marie Claire magazine.

Following a 2010 incident where Cyrus was videotaped smoking the psychoactive plant Salvia out of a bong just days after her 18th birthday, Williams reached out to the "Party in the U.S.A" star, offering to help produce her new album.

According to Cyrus in the interview, "Pharrell said (after hearing about the bong scandal): 'Don't be offended because this is how I talk, but (I thought), That b**ch is actually living. She's not sitting there with her Momager's chain on her door. I want to free that b**ch. I want her out of her cage.'"

The media attacked Cyrus following the leaked video footage of her with the bong, accusing the young starlet of setting a bad example for younger fans. Cyrus later admitted it was a "bad decision" and a big "mistake" to allow herself to bow to such peer pressure.

But there was a light at the end of the controversial tunnel for Cyrus, she teamed up and was able to record some fresh tracks with the N.E.R.D front man. She tells Marie Claire, "I'd never worked like that before. I was talking to him like he was an older brother, and everything I said was going onto the track."

Cyrus admits that these more "personal" tunes may not be for the right sound for everyone, but the 19-year-old songstress is okay with that:

"I don't need the money. I don't care if I make a dime on this. Let me make a good record," she said. "I got in there with Pharrell, and it was magic. Oh, dude, I'm so happy."

Cyrus claims Williams' approach to music-making is so invigorating, she had no problem holding back when recording the new material. Hopefully fans find the Williams' collaboration just as awesome as Cyrus does. Maybe Cyrus' teaming up with Rock Mafia on the dance single "Morning Sun" (released in July) gives a clue to what fans can expect...
