The Guardians of the Galaxy star is expecting her first child with husband Marco Perego and she dishes to the magazine about her upbringing and her terms of living the American dream.

"That's how those seven years my sisters and I spent on a bohemian island played very well," she shares. "We're not American in terms of feeding into that machine that you have to be somebody. We were somebody the moment we were born."

The actress was born as Zoe Yadira Saldana Nazario in Passaic, New Jersey. She is a beautiful mix of Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico from her mother's side. Though she was born in Jersey she was raise mostly in the Jackson Heights, Queens, New York area. The soon to be mama had her breakthrough in the films Centerstage (2000) and Corssroads (2002) with Britney Spears.

Her current film, a biopic about legendary songstress Nina Simone was something that she anticipated. "I actually encouraged Cynthia to cast someone else," she revealed. "But she came to me and said that everybody was afraid, and I thought, 'Sh*t, then how can we complain that there aren't enough films about African-American iconic figures?'"

After Saldana's "on again, off again" relationship with fellow actor Bradley Cooper ending in 2013, Saldana started dating Italian artist, Marco Perego. The couple secretly married in June 2013 in London.

With her Latin roots, Saldana has stated that her children will be raised bilingual, both speaking Spanish and English.

As for her gorgeous figure and body, pregnancy should not change the way she feels about someday getting plastic surgery, telling Women's Health magazine, "God as my witness, I am going to try to do everything I can to keep this ass together for as long as I possibly can––without going against nature."
