During the New York Comic-Con 2014, Marvel Entertainment launched the cinematic trailer for their mobile fighting game, Marvel Contest of Champions. In the game, Wolverine, Gamora, and Deadpool have been put together to face off against the evil super-villains. The Collector and Kang The Conquerer.

MStars was in attendance at the East Coast Convention, walking around the Marvel Booth. While playing the demo at the booth, we took a snapshot of one of the exciting levels. Like in a Street Fighter game, two opponents are beating each other senseless until one of them is left standing.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Contest of Champions writer Sam Humphries discusses what he most enjoyed about the game, "There's not a lot of bait and switch between the trailers and gameplay, which I've personally experienced too many times. It's a gorgeous game. Kabam! puts authenticity first."

In the story, the Marvel cast of superheroes have been abducted from Earth and put into a frozen state. The first to wake up from the vegetative state, Deadpool, Wolverine and Gamora realize they have been put together to fight their opponents. Why does Deadpool have toilet paper in his hands, we may never know.

In the demo we played, Cyclops and Drax were hurling their fists at each other as the clock ticking went down to its final seconds. The fact that you can use Cyclops' optic blasts to take down the Guardian crew member makes him an interesting choice.

Marvel Contest of Champions makes its way to the App Stores in December 2014. Readers, which characters are you excited to see fighting each other?
