Katy Perry is reportedly in talks with the National Football League as they work to finalize a deal that would have her performing during halftime of the upcoming Super Bowl XLIX.

"A deal is being hammered out for Katy to play the Super Bowl," a source told the New York Post's Page Six. SportsCenter, meanwhile, is reporting that it's already a done deal.

Perry had been named by the Wall Street Journal as a favorite for the coveted performance earlier this summer, along with pop singer Rihanna and rock band Coldplay. At the same time, the newspaper also revealed that the NFL was planning to ask its halftime act this year to pay to play.

"While notifying the artists' camps of their candidacy, league representatives also asked at least some of the acts if they would be willing to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig," the WSJ's Hannah Karp explained.

Perry was not into that idea. "I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl," she told the ESPN GameDay crew this past Saturday.

So if the Post's source is to be believed, then either the NFL has decided not to ask Perry to fork over a portion of her profits, or Perry has had a change of heart. (Which could totally be the case, considering how she's a huge football fan and all, now that she correctly predicted Mississippi State to upset Texas A&M and Ole Miss to defeat Alabama on Saturday.)

Super Bowl XLIX is scheduled for Feb. 1, 2015, at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
