Karim Benzema & Cristiano Ronadlo: Real Madrid Teammates Face Off In Euro 2016 Qualifying Friendly Campaign: France Beat Portugal

Every once in a while club teammates face off against one another for their international teams, however, it doesn't get any bigger than this. Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo are used to playing alongside one another for Real Madrid, in La Liga, however, they went toe-to-toe with one another. Benzema's France took on, and beat, Ronaldo's Portugal in a Euro 2016 qualifying friendly match. This game was seen as one of the most important ones, with the French wanting to test their squad strength, so the win for Benzema and co. gives them an advantage, and the bragging rights for when the pair return to Madrid.

Benzema scored early on, scoring from a close angle, and he then set up Paul Pogba, for a superb finish to almost secure the win. A Ricardo Quaresma goal was only enough for a consolation for the Portuguese, and the French ensured that they still had the all important three points from this vital match.

Ronaldo may not be in the mood to forgive too easily, as he re-injured his knee, and needed an ice pack to relieve the pain. Ronaldo may be annoyed that he had to face the French, who as hosts, qualify automatically for Euro 2016, yet chose to play against certain opponents to ensure they are ready for he real thing.

Can France win Euro 2016 in their own backyard, and can Portugal qualify? Ronaldo and Benzema had better hope that their friendship has survived this match, as Real are surely going to need their teamwork in the coming months.
