Russell Brand appeared on Today Oct. 13 to promote his book Revolution, but it looks like the comedian used the opportunity to talk about his 14-month marriage to Katy Perry. While the divorce between the two got pretty ugly, Brand has nothing but nice things to say of his time being Mr. Perry, saying he "really enjoyed" the marriage, calling the "Dark Horse" singer "amazing."

According to E! News, the star sat down with Matt Lauer to explain his book and talk about Perry:

"I really enjoyed it," the star said of his marriage. "Katy Perry is an amazing person."

The new book, which is different than what fans are probably expecting from the British bad boy, takes a look at the political activist side of Brand, covering everything from drug laws and voting to the redistribution of wealth around the world.

He said a recent trip back to his hometown was the inspiration for his book, when he saw the local people being "shafted" by the political system. He said he decided to write about the issues so it would start a conversation among people.

It also seemed that Russell is looking to distance himself from fame, as he reveals during a word association game with Lauer that celebrity is "nice at first, good for the restaurants and the under-the-table action, but ultimately unfulfilling."

In the interview he also said it's love that's going to change the world.

"Love is ultimately what we're here for," the star explained.

It seemed that Russell and Katy have the same views on love, as the singer explained in an interview with Rolling Stone that after her marriage to Brand fell apart, she learned self-love is the most important thing.

"Now I know — first and foremost, self-love, and then give love away," she said.
