It looks like there are about to be even more scares in our future as the FX horror series American Horror Story has just been renewed for a fifth season. The news comes a few days after the fourth installment of the series, Freak Showpremiered on the cable channel.

It might seems like the news for the renewal is premature, as the show only premiered its first episode last Wednesday, but the episode was watched by 10 million viewers when factoring in three days of delayed viewing, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The premiere episode also became the most watched in FX history and beat the previous three AHS seasons: Murder House, Asylum and Coven.

"The American Horror Story anthology has had the highest growth trajectory of any show in FX history, not to mention an unprecedented track record of success in awards recognition," FX CEO John Landgraf said when announcing the show's renewal. "AHS continues to deliver amazing stories, a brilliant troupe of actors led by Jessica Lange and a visual style unlike any other on TV. Ryan Murphy has established himself as one of the most successful and prolific producers of this generation. We expect AHS: Freak Show and the next incarnation of AHS to further his legacy."

Series co-creators Murphy and Brad Falchuk will be happy to hear that their show has been picked up as Murphy previously reported that he has already been toying with ideas of what he would want the theme of the new season to focus on.

The new season will return to the network in October 2015, and Murphy is hopeful he will get Lange on board.
