It looks as if Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg is helping to stop the spread of Ebola throughout the world. It's been reported the social media platform founder and his wife are doling out $25 million in order to fight the epidemic. The Hollywood Reporter notes that Zuckerberg took to his Facebook page to make the announcement, claiming that he and his wife are donating the money to the Centers for Disease Control Foundation.

The young entrepreneur's lengthy, and heartfelt, post kicked off with, "Priscilla and I are donating $25 million to the Centers for Disease Control Foundation to help fight Ebola. The Ebola epidemic is at a critical turning point. It has infected 8,400 people so far, but it is spreading very quickly and projects suggest it could infect 1 million people or more over the next several months if not addressed."

He continues, "We need to get Ebola under control in the near terms so that it doesn't spread further and become a long term global health crisis that we end up fighting for decades at large scale, like HIV or Polio."

Ending out the post, the Social Network inspiration wrote, "We are hopeful this will help save lives and get this outbreak under control." Check out the full post over on Facebook.

THR reports that Zuckerberg's $25 million donation follows a $9 million grant from Microsoft's Paul Allen, which was made last month.

On the issue, CDC Director Tom Frieden released a statement, noting, "The most important step we can take is to stop Ebola at its source. The sooner the world comes together to help West Africa, the safer we all will be."

Well, if for some reason you forgot just how much money Mark Zuckerberg has, now you know –– it's more than $25M.
