The Crosbys are one heck of a hockey family, it seems. Taylor Crosby, the 18-year-old sister of Pittsburgh Penguins superstar centerman Sidney Crosby, has just begun her first season as a goalie for the women's hockey team at Northeastern University in Boston.

SB Nation sat down with the youngster for an interview and asked her why she decided to start playing the same sport her brother has excelled in.

"I woke up and just decided I wanted to play, I guess," she explained. "It was mostly just — I was a little girl, playing with Barbies, and all that kind of stuff. I never really showed interest until this one day I kind of just decided I wanted to."

Naturally, her parents were hesitant at first.

"I just went up to them one day and said I wanted to be a goalie, but I don't think they wanted me to play because I had been growing up watching my brother," Taylor said. "They wanted me to play for me. So it took a couple of years, and then they let me play finally, and I loved it ever since."

Finally, at age 10, Taylor laced up her skates and hit the ice for the first time. She began playing co-ed hockey at age 12 or 13 and eventually made her way up — on her own accord — to prep hockey, international competitions and now collegiate play.

"I don't want any shortcuts," she said. "I don't want people to go easy on me. I want to go in, and work, and show them that I'm a hard worker and can play at this level. That's not just for other people, but to prove to myself as well that I'm able to play at this level and be the best goalie that I can."

As Crosby awaits her turn on the ice for the Huskies, Northeastern has compiled a 1-1-2 record in four games so far this season.
