Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice has started to pay back the government since being sentenced to 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of mortgage and bankruptcy fraud. According to ABC News, the Bravo reality star has paid the federal government $200,000 in restitution she was ordered by the judge at sentencing, but hasn't paid her husband's part.
The amount is still not enough because she and husband Joe Giudice owe a total of $414,588 in restitution. According to the U.S. attorney's office, Joe must pay separately, but he hasn't yet paid his part.
What's interesting about how Teresa got the money is, according to her lawyer's testimony, $150,000 was acquired through a contract advance while $50,000 was obtained through a loan from a friend.
It's quite a coincidence since rumors swirled that the RHONJ star and her husband got upward of $350,000 for their first post-sentence interview with Bravo's Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live.

Just spent a few hours interviewing Teresa & Joe Guidice. See it Monday night on Bravo.
Along with Teresa's sentence, Joe received 41 months behind bars. The two will be able to serve their time consecutively so their four daughters will have a parent home while the other is in prison.
The 41-month prison sentence isn't the only legal problem for Joe, however. He's supposed to show up to court in Paterson, New Jersey, Wednesday, Oct. 15, to face charges of illegally using documents, namely his brother's marriage and birth certificates, to the Motor Vehicle Commission in 2010.
These illicit documents were needed to acquire a driver's license when his was suspended due to a DUI. The charges carry a maximum of 10 years 18 months in prison.
