You would think that fans of Erykah Badu would pay huge dollar bills to see the soul music songstress live in concert, but is Badu not popular anymore?

According to E! Online, the singer decided to disguise herself wearing a huge hat, and a lot of clothing last week and sing in the streets of New York City.

The reason behind Badu's bizarre challenge, "I kind of always wanted to see what it would be like to sing for money on the streets," she explained. "I'm going to find a good place to stop and do it."

As the hit-maker started to sing, New Yorkers, and strangers seem to not realize who the 43-year-old was, or better yet, her talent regardless if she's Erykah Badu or not.

According to the site, the "Love Of My Life" singer only made a total of $3.60.

"Please sir, give me some money," Badu sings to people walking the city streets. "Sister I need some more. I haven't sold a record in two years."

Unfortunately, no one seems to care.

Badu makes it clear that this was one of her own unique challenges.

"In no way is this video a reflection of my feelings about homeless or unfortunate families nor individuals who have no other means of survival in our world," the singer commented on YouTube. "Instead, this short film was shot w/ my iPhone and edited in iMovie for entertainment purposes only and serves as a personal 'hustle' experiment for me."

MStars News wants to know, what would you do if you walked past someone singer on the street, would you walk away and ignore them, or give them at least $1?
