Before the highly-anticipated release of Eminem's latest album MMLP2, the Detroit emcee hit the studio with fellow hip-hop artist, Big Sean. This photo quickly went viral on Twitter/Instagram and beyond, prompting rumors that an epic collaboration was in the works:

But the Finally Famous  superstar never appeared on any tracks alongside the "Rap God." The Marshall Mathers LP follow-up was released back in November 2013.

Still, Ariana Grande's rumored boyfriend suggested that fans could expect a "huge" Detroit collaboration sometime soon. He told The Breakfast Club back in July (2013):

"There's gonna be a Big Sean-Eminem song. I don't know if it's gonna be on my album, it might be for something that we got planned later on... He's a true OG. I don't know if there's any misconceptions about Eminem, but that dude's real polite, real nice... He said, 'I haven't been this impressed in so long with somebody's album. Even though I knew you could rap, you really gonna do something big with this.' That was just an honor. Coming from the D, that was the person that showed us that it was real."

And as these "Detroit classic" rumors intensified, Shady deemed Sean a very "talented performer" amid the August 2013 release of Hall Of Fame:

"Every person or MC that I've respected musically, that I've sat and played this album for has respected me back and been like, 'Man, you bout to murk...' I told [Eminem], if it's weak, just tell me to cut it off. I ain't got to play the whole thing. And he was like, 'I'll definitely tell you.' He listened to every song straight through. [Eminem said] 'This is an awesome album. I ain't never been surprised like this.'"

But now it's over a year later - so what's up!?

Well, it's coming...

The rest of the interview's aimed towards sports fans... Sean talks his favorite Detroit teams.

During a recent talk with Detroit's 97.1 "The Ticket," the radio host asked:

"I know there was a photo you posted a while ago with Eminem - collaboration coming up anytime soon?"

And Sean's response? "Yes. You can expect a little somethin' somethin' sooner or later."

About time!

Will this collaboration be featured on November's two-disc compilation Shady XV, or perhaps Sean's own upcoming album? Stay tuned...
