With FX's The Americans slated to return for Season 3, a new cast member joins the popular spy drama. Actor Frank Langella joins series regulars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys in a recurring role.

Created former CIA officer Joe Weisberg, the critically acclaimed espionage drama is set in a suburban neighborhood in Washington, D.C., during the 1980s. The series focuses on two KGB spies Elizabeth (Russell) and Philip Jennings (Rhys) posing as an American married couple. As their spy ring leads to dangerous territory, the Jennings have to steer their innocent children clear from their neighbor, Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich), an FBI agent.

According to Variety, executive producers Weisberg and Joel Fields said in a joint statement, "We've been huge fans of Frank's work for a long time, and it's been such a pleasure getting to know Frank himself in the beginning stages of working together on the character of Gabriel. We look forward to a great season together, and to what we're sure will be a phenomenal creative collaboration."

The Frost/Nixon actor will play the role of Gabriel,a former KGB handler who comes out of retirement. Back in the business, Gabriel will now be responsible for overseeing his two KGB operatives on their secret missions. Gabriel takes over from their previous handler, Claudia (Margo Martindale).

The question remains, will Gabriel follow the Center's order and bring in the Jennings' daughter Paige to be their next recruit?

According to USA Today, production on the third season  has already started this week. Recently the cast and crew appeared at a panel during the New York Comic Con 2014 to promote their third season, which will be another round of 13 episodes.

The third season of The Americans is scheduled to premiere sometime in January on FX. Readers, are you excited to see the Jennings back again?
