'IT Crowd' USA -NBC Developing British Comedy Series Adaptation Again Despite Original Failed Attempt With Joel McHale

The British TV series The IT Crowd was such a huge comedic hit when it was on the air, introducing fans to the snarky behavior of the tech division of a company in hilarious situations. Like most British comedies, a remake over in the States was developed in order to create a new series. Unfortunately, NBC's 2007 pilot for this new remake, starring Joel McHale (Community), failed. Despite this sad fact, the network this week announced that it's going to try and adapt the comedy again!

Starring Chris O'Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson and Matt Berry, The IT Crowd was a laugh-riot sitcom that had fans begging for a fifth season after the show went off the air in 2010. In 2013, a special episode aired as the show's final installment, bringing to close a tremendous series.

Though NBC failed to bring this sitcom to the states in 2007, Deadline reports that new ground has been broken on another attempt to remake the comedy. It looks like Community writers Neil Goldman & Garrett Donovan will be taking on this iteration of the series, which we hope delivers better results than the previous attempt.

While some of us might be scoffing at this idea or even openly laughing at NBC for not learning from past mistakes, this project has potential to work. If anything, there are a number of outlets that, with the right support from fans and other backers, could help make this new show a success if NBC can't ... again.
