In this episode of Homeland, titled "Iron in the Fire," Carrie is sitting at a computer looking for a terrorist who could be at the center of the mob killing of former station chief Sandy. All of a sudden, Carrie's nemesis John comes in and helps her find the guy she's looking for. It begs the question: what does he have up his sleeve?

In the next scene, Aayan is traveling back to his friend's house where he stashed his bag of illegal substances. She tells him her dad found the bag and destroyed everything in it. The father comes home and tells Aayan he reported him to him medical school for stealing drugs. They yell back and forth and the father kicks him out.

Carrie rushes to the hotel before Saul leaves. She tells him she needs his help in catching the terrorist who killed Sandy. She tells him it is Pakistani intelligence and he can't go back to the US yet. He tells her the CIA needs to know about this, but she tells him nothing will come of it if they do that.

Quinn arrives to the covert offices in Pakistan met by Farrah. He looks around at the offices and gets an update on what's going on. All of a sudden, Aayan comes wanting to talk to Carrie. Farrah tells him Carrie is on her way and puts him in an office.

Carrie's nemesis John goes into his office with one of the other agents who apparently has been following Carrie. He tells John where Carrie went, but doesn't know what she's up to. John tells him to find out where she got the picture of the terrorist they're looking for, Farhad Ghazi, in regards to Sandy's murder.

Carrie arrives at the covert offices to talk to Aayan. He tells her he needs to get out of Pakistan, but he needs 80 thousand rupees first. She says that's too much money, but he won't tell her why he needs it. She shows him the picture of Farhad Ghazi and asks if that's the guy threating him. He starts breaking down and crying. Carrie decides to give him the money, but has Farrah follow him. Quinn looks at Carrie in a strange way, but she tells him Aayan is a direct link to Farhad.

We are taken to a lecture where a teacher is almost done giving his class on Pakistani-American relations. A woman walks in and then when it's over goes to talk to Professor Boyd. She tells him she knows he gave Sandy classified documents from the desk of the ambassador. Scandalous! He leaves her right away.

Saul arrives for a meeting with a retired Pakistani general with ties to the Pakistani intelligence.

We then see the covert team find Farhad, but can't decide how to bug his cell phone.

Quickly back to Saul and the General, they banter back and forth with Saul telling him he needs his connections with ISI aka Pakistani intelligence. The general tells Saul to give it up. The Americans are being driven out of Afghanistan and the Pakistani-American relations are terrible Saul won't give up and still wants someone who can help him.

Farrah arrives in the van to see what Aayan is doing with the money. She gets out and sees he tries to give it to a woman, but he has to wait.

Next, Quinn sneaks into Farhad's apartment to try and get the bug near his cell phone. It works, but Farhad wakes up and Quinn has to hide. Farhad doesn't see him which lets Quinn get out of there.

We see Professor Boyd talking on his phone wanting to get out of Pakistan and get another teaching job. He goes into the ambassador's office and we learn he's her husband! He tells her he got a job to go teach back in the US and he's leaving soon. They fight about him leaving, but he's dead set on it and leaves her office.

Carrie and Quinn are sitting in the abandoned apartment across Farhad's apartment window looking to his next move. They start talking about Quinn leaving the CIA and Carrie mentions she's lucky to have him there. He tells her ever since he killed a little boy on a mission he hasn't been the same. He calls himself a "bad guy" which gets Carrie very upset. She goes back to the embassy while he stays on watch.

It looks like Farrah and Max slept all night in the van watching Aayan. The nurse Aayan met the night before comes out and gives him some kind of medicines. They start following him to see where he goes.

Carrie goes back to the station where she tells John to call off the guys that are following her. He says it's for her protection. He then tells her there is a secret tunnel that can get her in and out of the embassy.

Saul is sitting and waiting to meet with the man the general got him in contact with. Several Pakistani officers clear the room so the Pakistani intelligence representative can talk with Saul in private. Saul grills him about Sandy's death, but he doesn't budge and leaves the table.

Carrie comes back to the abandoned apartment and tells Quinn about Saul's meeting. She has a talk with him and apologizes for the night before. He accepts her apology and has a creepy long stare in her eyes.

There is major traffic in the streets where Farrah is following Aayan. He gets out of his taxi and starts walking through a marketplace. She gets out and follows him and sees him giving the bag of medicine to man. All of a sudden many cars drive up and men with guns get out.

Back at the abandoned apartment, Carrie tells Quinn to wake up because Farhad is getting a call. Farhad is told on the phone that he is found out so he packs his stuff and goes. Carrie wants to capture him now, but Quinn is against it. They argue when Farrah calls and tells Carrie some shocking news with a video Farrah sent to her to prove it. Apparently, Aayan went to meet with his uncle, Haqqani, the terrorist they thought they killed in the wedding air strike. It all makes sense to them now, Sandy's death was supposed to be payback for Haqqani's death and America would stop looking for him since they think he's death. However, they still don't know why Pakistani intelligence is involved.

Professor Boyd is bringing his packed boxes to his office, but when he opens the door the woman who knows all his secrets is there with two men. They make him stay put, while she tells him if he doesn't cooperate with her she will send a package to the FBI about all of the secrets he told and that will lead him to be arrested for treason and his wife's career to be over. She gives him a key, but doesn't say for what.

Back at the covert offices, Farrah wants to give Aayan a passport for England, but Carrie tells her now everything has changed because he was seen aiding his terrorist uncle. Carrie tells her they will use Aayan to get to Haqqani and if Aayan drops by the offices, to take him to the safe house.

Farrah brings Aayan to the safe house where Carrie is waiting for him. He wants to leave with the passport and visa to London now, but she tells him it will be another couple of days. She goes to get sheets so he can sleep on the couch and takes a long look in the mirror. It's a scary look because it seems like she's going to do something unseemly with him. They make the bed together and he sits down to tell her he was kicked out of medical school for stealing drugs. She tells him she believes him that he didn't do it and here it goes....touches his leg. Did anyone ever think Carrie couldn't stoop even lower? Aayan si afraid he won't be able to get in to medical school in London because of getting kicked out in Pakistan, but Carrie assures him it doesn't matter. She then goes in for a kiss, but he tells her it's his first time. Carrie gets on top of him and then the episode ends.

Oh, Carrie. And we were just starting to like you again after last season. Hopefully, next week she can redeem herself with some shred of dignity. Hopefully...
