Looks like now that the Late Show with David Letterman is nearing its end, the staff is letting it all out! Well, one guy, at least. Tony Mendez, Letterman's cue card guy since way back in 1993 when the show first kicked off, was fired late last week after calling the famed host a "motherf*cker" and shoving longtime writer Bill Scheft.

GossipCop notes that the incident went down last Wednesday, Oct. 8, when the two were discussing some things in the host's dressing room. Scheft reportedly interrupted, which caused Mendez to scream, "I know what I'm doing. Get off my back!"

Letterman, perhaps trying to calm things, interjected, "Tony, your sour disposition isn't helping." Which caused the former Late Show employee to spit back, "You're the one who has the sour disposition, motherf*cker."

The publication notes that Mendez admits he then came into work the next morning, grabbed Scheft by the shirt and pushed him up against a wall. He was, of course, then fired.

Mendez, 69, spoke with the NY Post and acknowledged that he is aware he should not have put his hands on Scheft, adding however, that the resentment was "coming for a long time."

As far as calling Letterman a mother*cker? He explains that the two would often hold witty banter, and remains strong in his belief that Letterman had "nothing to do" with it. "Dave has never let me down, he told the paper. "He is the best, the most generous boss I have ever had."

For the record, turns out Letterman IS that generous because Mendez is being paid his full salary and will receive his health insurance up until Letterman's departure in May 2015.
