'19 Kids And Counting' Jim Bob, Michelle Duggar Abandon Their Kids? We Have The Details On How Hands-On The TLC Stars Are With Their Family!

The stars of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, seem to have the picture-perfect home life with their children, but behind closed doors when they're not filming it's a whole different story. According to Radar Online, the reality couple isn't as hands-on as you'd think, leaving it up to their older kids to take care of the younger members of the family.

"Jim Bob and Michelle have what they call the 'buddy system,'" a source told the site. "Each of the older kids gets paired with a younger kid that they have to watch over and help out. It's great for them, because it's like they have a set of free nannies, but the kids don't really have a choice!"

With so many kids to take care of, the TLC stars leave a lot of responsibility to Jana, who rarely gets a chance to go out herself.

"Jim Bob and Michelle have been known to go out on date night and leave all the kids at home with Jana in charge of the house," the source continued. "They'll be gone for hours, and she has to watch over everyone. She does it with a smile, but it's sad. It's not like she ever gets a date night!"

Sometimes it can even get dangerous for the kids without the right supervision, watching while they run amok all over the house.

"They bounce off the walls!" according to Radar. "They are allowed to ride their scooters in the house, and even put the youngest kids in a wagon and drag them around at high speeds. It seems like they pretty much do whatever they want ... It's amazing that no one's ever gotten hurt."
