A familiar face returns in the exciting IDW Publishing title, The X-Files: Season 10 #17. Writer Joe Harris and artist Colin Lorimer bring back Frank Black (played by Lance Henriksen) into the fold in a dark and twisted installment.

This is the second part of the Immaculate story arc, which continues at a fast beat as FBI agents Mulder and Scully attempt to solve the case about secret cults and Satantic power. The narrative keeps at a brisk pace, taking readers to a surprising and fitting conclusion. We're left with wanting more, especially since this installment marks the return of fan favorite Frank Black.

Throughout the story. Harris focuses on the relationship between Fox Mulder and Black, which is much different than their last confrontation inThe X-Files crossover episode. The two have respect for each other, but they don't trust each other's motives. Harris is able to fill in blanks at what Frank has been up to during his missing years, but also leaves questions unanswered.

Thanks to Joana Lafuente's dark overtones, Lorimer captures a suspenseful and gritty tale that takes place within an eerie forest. The illustrations do a great job taking readers within Frank's point-of-view as his gift allows him to witness how the murders took place.

In detail, Frank'a introduction is highlighted in a slash page. Though Mulder and Scully look younger than their real life counterparts, Frank has aged in his character design. Though he looks older, Lorimer is on the spot when its comes to Frank's attire, especially his ragged jacket.

Readers should take note this issue kicks off Millennium #1. This isn't just a one-time guest appearance. Announced at New York Comic Con, Frank Black is coming back with his own series. The supernatural thriller will follow the events of issue #17 and where the series finale left off.

For fans of the Millennium television series, they should definitely pick up The X-Files: Season 10 #17.
