Why Did Goldie Hawn And Kate Hudson Dye Their Hair Pink?

Actress Kate Hudson and her mom Goldie Hawn do almost everything together, including dye their hair pink. The adorable mother-daughter duo dyed their hair in honor of breast cancer awareness month, which is October, but there is more to the story. 

While attending the 28th American Cinematheque gala honoring Matthew McConaughey, Kate revealed the reasoning behind her new pink locks. "We just thought, you know, it's breast cancer awareness month — it was actually Ryder's idea," Kate told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet.

"Ryder was like, 'Mom, let's do something for breast cancer awareness,' and I said 'Great,' and he said, 'Let's dye our hair,' and I said, 'OK, let's do it." In addition to coming up with the idea, her son Ryder, who is 10 years old, got to decide whether or not he should add other colors to his own 'do.

"I let him do it. He did more, like, pink parts and some blue, but yeah, it was cool and fun," the Wish I Was Here actress revealed. Kate's iconic mother, Overboard actress, Goldie (who is 68 years old) got in on the action dyeing her blonde hair with pink, too.

"In honor of my bestie Juliana, my assistant Kathy, my grandmother Laura, Mimo and all the people who are fighting and have fought breast cancer. Your courage shines and inspires. We decided to show our support by wearing pink proud! Thank you @majormoonn for taking us there," Kate wrote on her Instagram with a picture of her family dyeing their hair together on October 17.

The 35-year-old actress also opened up about her annual Halloween party as she hit the red carpet for the gala on Tuesday night. "It's a fun party and yes, we're planning on the party," she told E! News. When asked about if she already had a costume in mind she quickly responded, "Oh, yeah. I'm not saying."
